Birchbox: Box 3

Oh ho ho, am I excited to share this months Birchbox! It came with some wonderful goodies!

Birchbox March

Ahava Moisturizer

Oh man, I'm really digging this moisturizer. It doesn't work miracles when it comes to dryness, but what's awesome, besides it's scent, is how it goes matte. I don't normally wear makeup, so I tend to look shiny after putting on my morning lotion. But this just goes matte, which is crazy awesome.

Annick Goutal Perfume

Annick Goutal Perfume
I'm not sure where to begin with this perfume. It's the first perfume I've used that actually had notes. At first, it just smells musky, sort of an old fashioned perfume smell. The second note was citrus, which smelled pretty nice. Then lastly came the obnoxious stereotypical perfume smell. Other than the layers,  I wasn't impressed. It also gave me quite the headache.

Color Club Nail Polish

Pink nails
WOAH. Now that is pink! I have never worn such bright polish before! I've got to say, it was a pretty fun change. It's not something I plan to wear often, but it really was pretty. And it lasted about a week, which for me is rare.

Juice Beauty Cleanser

Oh how I love this cleanser! The smell reminds me of what is used during a facial. It feels gentle but it still helps with acne. I'm getting this asap.

Keratase Oil
Huh. I'm not much of a hair oil person. I have thin straight hair, so oil kind of scares me. But I was pretty impressed with this. I use it after a shower, and it helps comb out tangles. I don't see a huge improvement, but I think my ends may be healthier since using. It really is great for tangles though, so I plan to use it till it runs out.

Tea Forte Pack
TEA!?!?! Oh man, you have noooo idea how happy I was about this. I am a huge tea drinker. I've got an obnoxious amount of tea taking over my mom's kitchen. So getting to try any tea is a huge treat for me. However, I've got to say I was pretty disappointed with these.

Tea Forte Cucumber Mint
I couldn't smell much cucumber, just mint. It really didn't have any flavor.

Tea Forte Cherry Marzipan
You can really smell the cherries in this, it's almost over powering. Taste wise though, I just taste the green tea, which by itself is too bitter for me.

Tea Forte Honey Yuzu
This certainly smelled nice, but the taste was very bitter. Not pleasant at all.
So for the tea, go for it if you enjoy the taste of plain green tea. Just don't expect any of the flavors to actually exist.

I've been working on my own scarf for quite a while now. I have to take lots of breaks or else my hands die. It's daunting but I'll be happy when I'm done. I watched Princess Mononoke again, so good.

I've been spending more and more time outside, whenever I can. I can tell it's good for my body and my soul, being with nature and having the sun on my skin. We bought a hammock recently and I can't wait to put it up.

The rejects

It's been difficult but fun trying to find the right necklace for the wedding. It's been a process of elimination, so I thought I'd show the ones that didn't make the cut.

(Forewarning: I can't pose. I was trying to hold my hair out of the way but I mostly look like a sad model.)

This one was winning, but it's a bit too simple.

Ugh, isn't this one gorgeous? Sadly it's too big and distracting for the dress, but I'll enjoy wearing it whenever I can.

Waaaaay too small and simple.

I wish I could tell you about the necklace that won, but you'll just have to wait and see. :)

Fibro and Plans

It seems a normal thing for people to assign tasks to different days. Laundry on Monday, Ironing on Tuesday, Dishes Wednesday, and so on. But with fibromyalgia, you never know how you're going to be feeling or when a flare up may happen. So I'm not entirely sure how to go about tasks. If I feel good, it's tempting to get everything accomplished. But that can wear me out and then make the next day very painful. I certainly wish I could keep tasks to certain days, but I'd need more control over my body for that. I'm curious as to how other fibro sufferers deal with this. Any advice or tips or even just agreement would be welcomed.

Some progress

In wedding news, it wont be until April when we get to do the cake tasting due to schedules, which is a bummer. Guess I'll have to satisfy my sweet tooth now with other stuff.

I've started walking around the house in my wedding day shoes to help wear them in a bit. They do have heels, so that's also taking some getting used to. I just can't do it when David's here since we both want it all to be a surprise.

I also got the undergarments, boy was trying those on a work out. I'm glad I got them in store rather than online since it was hard figuring out my size. But we got one! And it's not too bad looking!

I've been working out daily so I'll be in good shape and health for the day of. Though it's making me have more flare ups (that plus chiro) so it's a bit of a slow process. I'm also really trying to get my acne and redness under control, as is David. He'll be seeing a derm in a while, but since we can't afford for me to, I'm just trying to figure out what I can do myself.

More updates later!

Okay so I lied

I know I said I'd do a full review of the Vichy Birchbox, but ugggggh. Life is catching up to me. This past week was spring break for David (his last one!) and we spent it hanging with many friends. My body finally freaked out Sunday after doing so much so I'm still feeling it a bit. So! Instead of a big 'ol review post, I'm just going to share with you the two awesome things from that box.

Finally a remover that doesn't leave that weird film behind. I don't know how they do it, but this stuff is perfect. Go get this stuff. Now.

This is the gentlest face wash I've ever used. If I had burns on my face, I would use this stuff. I think this is great to have, even if you don't plan to use it often. It's nice for days when you don't want anything too harsh or you know you're skin is being picky and might react bad to stuff.

Fyi, I uploaded these pictures from my flickr. Figure it might be a good idea to have all my pictures in one place. Let me know if this turns out funny or anything.

So just a quick sum up of my past week. David and I got to hang with our friend Michelle, and we had a fun time playing with her pets and teaching me CoD. She let me borrow The Golden Compass series and I am hooked! I read the first book in a day but I'm taking my time with the second one. I do love getting wrapped up in a good book, but I hate feeling disconnected from the world.

Then we hung with Mary, Will, and Roger. More playing with pets, some nerd talk, and then we played a Kirby game. I love how with some friends, you don't see them for a while but when you hang out you pick up right where you left off.

Then there was a cookout/party at our friend Philip's. It mostly consisted of drinking and Rock Band, which, turns out, I'm pretty good at.

I got this month's Birchbox yesterday, so I'm having a blast going through everything. I'm currently drinking something from it, ooo how mysterious of me.

Time for more reading!

Review: Pacifica Island Vanilla

Today I got a wonderful package from Pacifica! I won a contest and I'm so excited to share what I got.

I've never used Pacifica products before, but I always lust after them when I'm in Wegmens. Vegan, natural, delicious scents. That's what I'm all about.

First of all, Island Vanilla is possibly the loveliest thing my nose has experienced. It's not your average cooking vanilla smell, nor your artificial one. This is comfort and beauty wrapped up in a scent. The roll-on is incredible. And it doesn't give me a headache like most perfumes. In fact there's nothing perfumey about it, and that's what makes it so awesome.

The Body Butter is very creamy, but I'm also able to type with it on and not feel like I'm messing up the keyboard. The smell is a little different from the roll-on, not as clean, but still a lovely one that I'm excited to use. And again, IT'S VEGAN! Ahhh, this just makes me so happy!

Lastly the lip tint. Backstory, my lips are kind of odd. They almost always look blue, and though I'm warm all the time, people think I'm freezing. This lip tint is a nice light and natural color, so it works great with my lips, making them look normal. I'm also really surprised by how nice it feels. It has essential fatty acids and feels a lot nicer than lots of chapsticks I own. The scent is very light but pleasing.

Oh my goodness, I cannot rave enough about this! If you've been looking for a signature scent for yourself, something that won't over power or cause headaches, go check out Pacifica asap.
